A 27-year-old woman died in suspicious conditions after allegedly following sexual assault in Auto Nagar, has been panicking between residents and businessmen in busy areas.

Patamata police said: “The woman was selected by the rags on the roadside near the Auto Nagar Gate.

P. Prabhakar, also known as Nathi Siva, is known as the defendant in the case. Police said he provided food to the victim and sexually assaulted her in an open area at 12 noon on April 1. Later, the defendant was confirmed and arrested.

Patamata Circle inspector V. Pavan Kishore said the cause of the death can only be known after the incident is reported. “We are waiting for a report,” the CI, who visited the crime scene, told the Hindu.

“The incident occurred in the busy car Nagar area. The incident occurred just one pole from the Patamata police station. Boozers occupied the road, hindered traffic and caused inconvenience to passers-by,” said a car driver.

“Although hotels are consuming alcohol on the road, it has not disturbed some hotels. The public consumes alcohol on road dividers and open areas, causing panic in the local area. Recent events have shown that women in the area are lacking in safety.”

“Brattle is common in hotels and tea stalls. There is no vigil, and the rush will continue until midnight. Although the hotel is close to the police station, there is no patrol,” Rama Krishna said.

Patamata police said a case under Article 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) (2024) has been registered at the time of the woman’s death and an investigation is underway.
