2. Held for robbery workers

Hyderabad: Rajendranagar and Shamshabad CCS teams and Chevella police arrested two people for luring labor workers to an isolated place and robbing gold. Detective Inspector Ch Upender said Sampangi Srinivas of Warangal area and Pitala Venkatamallu of Karimnagar were involved in three robberies, four links, two ransoms and a car theft.

Police said Srinivas will hire a worker and take her to an isolated place where Venkatamallu is waiting. “After taking them there, he would steal all the gold they were wearing, they would beat them up and threaten them not to disclose theft to anyone,” DI said. Police began an investigation after receiving the complaint.

After nearly a month of hard work, the two were arrested. “They often steal bikes, use them for a day, and then steal another car. They also wear hats and go to multiple locations like Shabad and Kollur,” said Chevella Inspector M. Bhoopal Sridhar.

Police said that while Venkatamallu was the first-time offender, Srinivas was involved in 22 offences, including murder, and arrested in 12 of them.

“Srinivas bought some properties worth hundreds of crores of rupees and we are in the process of seizure. He has no other source of income and we suspect he bought them by selling stolen materials,” the inspector said.
