According to ANI, the accident occurred when a small Panga-style ship tilted off the California coast. Parents of the affected Indian family are currently receiving treatment at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Joya while the children are missing.
Rescue operations by American agencies
Authorities said the ship capsized during surfing around 6:30 a.m. and is about 15 miles from downtown San Diego. The U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Border Patrol, California State Park, Delmar Lifeguard and the San Diego Sheriff Department are multiple agencies involved in the response.
The Coast Guard deployed a 45-foot rescue ship and a helicopter to assist in the search, which continued Monday afternoon, according to CNN. Although the exact number of people on board has not been determined yet, 17 life jackets were found at the scene.
