20 Maoists arrested, weapons and ammunition occupied in the Murug area

Police said on Saturday (May 17, 2025) that as many as 20 Maoists have been arrested by police in different places in the Mulugu district of Telangana in the past 48 hours.

The captured weapons and ammunition include three 5.56mm INSAS rifles, including 6 magazines and 70 live rounds, four 7.62mm SLR rifles with 10 magazines and 88 live tours, a .303 rifle, a magazine and 11 live rounds, four 8mm rifles, four 8mm rifles, 11 live broadcasts, 16 12 live weapons, two live weapons and two live weapons and two live weapons and two live weapons and two.

According to police, there are Rs 58,155, four walkie-talkies with antennas, six radios, nine rechargeable batteries, six pen drives and memory cards, and other materials seized from arrested Maoists.

The arrested included a branch committee member (DCM), five CMMITTEE members (ACM), 14 party members and 20 militias of the militia CPI (Maoist). Of the 20 arrested Maoists, 19 were from the Nambastali division in Chhattisgarh, one from the Malkangiri district in Odisha.

They were arrested on Friday and Saturday during vehicle inspections and search operations at different locations within the scope of the Venkatapuram, Wazeedu and Kannaigudem police stations.

Police added that the Mulugh area police tightened the vigil along the interstate border with Chhattisgarh to prevent Maoists from entering the area from Karregutta Hilllocks on the Chhattisgarh side.
