A 22-year-old man drowned in a swimming pool at a farmhouse in the Wathoda area of Nagpur City at a birthday party, police said on Thursday. The incident happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday at a farmhouse in the village of Pandner, where he celebrated his friend’s birthday.
Pranjal, who could not swim, jumped into the pool and began to struggle in the deep water. A Wathoda Police Department official said a friend initially thought he was joking, but then fell into a coma. The official added that he was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead.
Police have registered the case of accidental death and are conducting further investigations.
