The sequel to Empuraan is the sequel to Super Lucifer in 2019, winning Rs 17.4 crore in the four-day opening weekend and becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time with a global total of Rs 26.5 crore.
Prior to Thudarum, Tharun Moorthy made his debut in the 2021 crime thriller Java Operation, with his second film, Crime Drama 2022, Saudi Arabia won the National Film Award for Best Malayalam. The 2025 thriller was produced by M. Renjith under his banner Rejaputra Visual Media, and its music and background scores are composed of Jakes Bejoy.
