Mahindra Group reorganizes key leadership roles

The $25 billion Mahindra Group announced Monday that it has reshaped its leadership role in its logistics, automotive and agricultural equipment business, a program to promote part of internal talent and have a reliable track record to further accelerate the group’s growth.

Mahindra Group Mahindra Group said: “These leadership changes ensure that our key business has strong, proven leaders. Their experience will allow us to drive significant growth and create greater value for our customers and shareholders.”

As part of the change, Hemant Sikka, president of the Agricultural Equipment Division (FES), will become the new MD CEO of Mahindra Logistics. Sikka replaced Ram Swaminathan, who decided to resign from his current role in pursuit of other professional interests.
“Sikka is one of our top leaders and brings a strong combination of strategic skills, rigor, customer-centricity and people-oriented leadership,” the company said.

Veejay Nakra, president of the automotive department, has been appointed as the new president of the agricultural equipment business. Nakra joined M&M in 1995 and while building world-class manufacturing capabilities, it has successfully launched the turnaround of its automotive business.

R Velusamy, President of Automotive Technology and Product Development, will serve as President of Mahindra Automotive Business. He joined M&M in 1996, playing a key role in the development of powertrains and the successful launch of several internal combustion engine (ICE) flagships and Mahindra’s electric vehicle portfolio. Nakra and Veluswamy will both continue to report to Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director of the Mahindra Farm Equipment and Automotive Division. Velusamy will start on May 5 and start in January next year with a detailed business assimilation plan. Mahindra also plans to integrate the SUV and LCV (less than 3.5 tons) businesses, under a leader. “This will help build greater agility and collaboration, including engineering our products and bringing them to market. This role will be responsible for the terminals of all functions in the automotive business and provide profit and loss,” it said. The company also plans to move out of the farm equipment business from its farm equipment business.
