3 companies under the Greater Bangalore Administration: Siddaramaiah

Bangalore: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that as the larger Bengaluru authorities replace Bruhart Bengaluru Mahanagara Park (BBMP), starting on Thursday, under the Authority, will form a new city governed by the city of Bangalore. The larger Bengaluru authorities will be led by the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke with media people in Bangalore on Thursday that the new company’s constitutional split BBMP will take place in the next few days and said that Bangalore will start with a bigger Bengaluru from now on.

Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Minister DK Shivakumar called the Grand Bengaluru Power “a game changer in urban governance”.

Shivakumar, with the larger Bengaluru authorities, said the city will expand from its 709 square kilometers to accommodate the city’s growth and future demand. In addition, there is a provision that constitutes up to 7 new city companies to manage the growth of Bangalore, the ward board and city companies have control over budget allocation and local priorities, enabling local voices to empower local voices through ward-level decision-making opportunities.

Previously, PC Mohan, a member of the Bharatiya Janaya Party Lok Saha who represented the central seat of Bengaluru, was called “the larger Bengaluru Authority Executive Committee does not have a position to serve as mayor or Lok Sabha member, but the minister personally selected by the Chief Minister can serve as its chairman.” He added: “Any minister close to the Chief Minister determines the future of the city.”

Mohan said the chief minister wanted to control power since Bengaluru brought cash (highest income).

BJP MLA and MLA Dr Ashwathnarayan said the Greater Bangalore authority was an anti-democratic step with the selfish ending of Congress leaders already in effect.

“The authorities are nothing more than political gainers in the city of Bangalore,” he said.
