Kottaimedu’s Sangameswarar Temple Auto Festival was held on Saturday, marking the return after a 32-year break. Many devotees participated in the parade, providing prayers and witnessing traditional events.
The festival preparations begin on May 4, with ceremonial hoisting held between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM every day, and performing daily for the gods Sangameswarar and Akilandeswari.
On Saturday, the temple opens early in the morning for special sacred fairies, and then the deities are mounted on decorated chariots. The parade starts at 10:40 am
The chariots go along Kottai Eswaran Kovil Street, Perumal Koil Street and NH Road to return to the starting point of Kottai Eswaran Kovil Street at 2.15 pm, and the Vedic Hymn comes back before the chariots before the traditional Kailasa Instruments.
Thousands of people participated in the parade. As part of an effort to promote community harmony, members of the local Muslim community distributed cookies and refreshments to devotees.
The safety arrangements are supervised by the Coimbatore City Police Department, and more than 500 personnel have been deployed along the march route.
