Neeraj Chopra has won gold medals since 2025 and won the Potchefstroom Invitational in South Africa

Just ahead of the Doha Diamond League next month, Neeraj competed in the Invitational in South Africa, where he won with the best shot from six competitors.
Neeraj Chopra won the javelin throwing gold medal in the invitational tournament in Potchefstroom in South Africa on Wednesday, April 16, and hit five other competitors with an 8.452 billion shot. This marks the Indian star’s excellent kickoff at the start of the 2025 season, preparing for the Diamond League next month for Doha.
The 27-year-old athlete outperforms South Africa’s promising javelin thrower Douw Smit. Although Neeraj’s shooting percentage didn’t reach his 899,400 men, which was what he achieved last season in his injury, it was still enough to win the gold medal. He also showed solid form in the competition and was one of only two athletes with a high score of over 80 meters.

Neeraj has been training at Potchefstroom in preparation for the new season. He also married his long-time girlfriend Himani Mor at a private ceremony in Himaal Pradesh in January this year. After the wedding, Neeraj went to South Africa to start training. He will all compete in the Doha Diamond League, which will begin on May 16.
The final lineup of participants is still in siege, and the event schedule will be announced soon, with less than a month left. For those who may not know, Neeraj is now training under the guidance of legendary Jan Elezn, who has hit 98.48 million with his longest javelin hits.
