The former CSK star believes Dhoni’s return as captain can inspire the team to enter the second round of the game.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will miss out on the regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for the rest of 2025 due to an elbow injury. Legendary MS Dhoni replaced him with a re-promotion to the captain role. Gaikwad takes over from Dhoni before IPL begins in 2024. Under Gaikwad’s guidance, CSK faces tough times in IPL 2024, and in IPL 2025, things haven’t made much progress as they currently find themselves in only one win of 9th in five wins.
Ambati Rayudu, who is now providing comments for IPL 2025, made an interesting prediction for CSK after Dhoni returned. The former CSK star believes that with Dhoni returning to the helm, his leadership and unique talent may just be what CSK needs in the second round of the game.

Ambati Rayudu played a crucial role in IPL Chennai Super Kings from 2018 to 2023, helping three IPL trophys under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Interestingly, Rayudu’s last appearance in the IPL matched Dhoni’s last game. After celebrating the IPL victory in 2023, Rayudu decided it was time to hang up his boots and retire from professional cricket.
Nearly two years after the position, Dhoni will return as the captain of CSK. Even more striking, Dhoni will be the first unlimited player to lead the IPL team, and CSK left him in the non-closed category and received a huge amount of Rs 4 crore.
CSK is preparing to take over as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Game 6 on Friday, April 11. Currently, KKR has managed to win two of the five games and ranks sixth in the standings.
