68-year-old British tourist died three months after a “unprovoked” attack on Spanish island, leaving him in a coma

A British man died of injury after being attacked by a stranger while on vacation in Spain.
Marshall Latham, a retired carpenter from Nantwich, Cheshire, fell into a coma after walking back to his apartment in Fuerteventura on December 10.
Last Wednesday, the death of Mr. Latham, known as Marsh’s friend, was investigated in Warrington Coroner’s Court.
He died at Walton Center, 68, three months after the attack, on March 16, causing brain trauma, which was so severe that doctors warned him that it is unlikely to recover.
After being transferred to a hospital in Canadians, part of his skull was removed, a tracheotomy and a brain drain to help relieve stress. Mr. Latham also developed twice in pneumonia.
On March 1, he was finally deported to Aintree Hospital until his death a few weeks later.
The Warrington Guardian reported that coroner officials requested an investigation into the cause of death.
The investigation has now been suspended until August when Spanish police consider any criminal charges.

When Mr. Latham returned to his apartment in Fuerteventura, Spain on December 10, an “unreasonable” incident occurred.
A 32-year-old British man was reportedly arrested while trying to board a flight to Glasgow after the attack.
The man was identified from CCTV for alleged injuries and was released on bail as the investigation continued.
Mr. Latham’s family and friends set up a GoFundMe page after the attack to support attorney fees not covered by travel insurance, saying the holiday maker was “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
Fundraising organizer Neil Cooper:’We want to bring the attacker of the swamp to justice, and although this will not change his medical condition, it will let his friends and family know that those who do so must face the consequences of their actions.
“The swamp didn’t ask for that, and he certainly shouldn’t have gotten it, it’s just that he was in the wrong position at the wrong time, which put him in that situation.”
Mr. Cooper said a few days after the holidaymaker’s death that the swamp was “loved by many”, adding that the family is now seeking justice for him.
He wrote: “We took him back to a hospital in the UK by air ambulance last week where he received incredible care and the staff were really great but sadly his health deteriorated and we said goodbye to him on Sunday.
“It’s really important to bring him back to the UK, and many of his friends and family have never seen him.

The death of Mr. Latham, known as Marsh’s friend, was investigated last Wednesday in Warrington Coroner’s Court.
“He has a lot of tourists every day, which is cute and I’m glad that there are many people who have the opportunity to say goodbye to him.
“In early December, when he was attacked, it felt like he had gone through a lot of things long ago, he finally had peace and no longer suffered.
“It’s more important now than ever because we seek justice for the swamp and we’re back and forth with our lawyers this week to understand how his death changed the case.
“Thank you for all the polite words and messages you received. It is really gratifying to know that the swamp is loved by so many people.
After the attack, Rusham’s brother-in-law told the local newspaper Nantwich News: “He and Lynn went to Fuerteventura three to four times a year, and they had many friends there.
Lynn returns to their apartment, Marsh stays for another drink and is walking home when something happens.
“He was knocked down by this guy, and near the taxi level, he fell down and hit his head on the concrete floor.
Witnesses told police it was a totally unreasonable punch, without argument, they didn’t know each other.

Mr. Latham was finally repatriated to Aintree Hospital on March 1 until his death a few weeks later
“What we know is that the man they suspected was trying to fly to Glasgow and was arrested on the plane.
“We were also told that the man was thrown away from the bar the night before the attack.
The swamp never had any trouble, and there wasn’t even a parking ticket. He was just a lad on vacation with his partner.
“We need justice,” then-local councillor Allen Gage wrote in a social media post.
“A precious friend of mine, a gentleman who can provide you with a shirt, tragically attacked his back and fell into a coma while in Spain before Christmas.
“He literally crosses the road to help someone- no surprise. Mr. Marshall Latham continued to fall into a coma with his friends Marsh.
“Community fundraising campaign has been launched to seek civil justice. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
“Fight on the swamp and we will fight for you.”
