There are several temples in India and devotees offer thousands of rupees. Such temples have various sources of income, including Prasad and donations. But, do you know which is the richest temple in the country? It is nothing more than the Tirumara temple in the Tirupati region of Andhra Pradesh.

Board Chairman BR Naidu said Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) responsible for Venkateshwara Temple or Tirumala Temple has approved its annual budget for 2025-26 with an estimated revenue of Rs 5,258.68 crore. The board estimates that the amazing Hundi (cash box) revenue for the 2024-25 fiscal year is approximately Rs 1,671 crore and Rs 17,29 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year. The temples earn more than the net worth of several Indian celebrities, such as Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Amitabh Bachchan.

Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli is one of the highest paid players. He also makes money from business investments and brand transactions. His estimated net worth is about Rs 10 billion. In addition, former Indian captain and CSK star MS Dhoni have a net worth of about Rs 12 billion. Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan reportedly purchased 54,454 square feet of land in Ayodhya, estimated at Rs 16 billion. The actor has been active in the film industry for fifty years.

TTD revenue sources

In the fiscal year starting April 1, TTD is expected to contribute Rs 1,729 crore from most of the revenue provided by devotees of Hundi (Cash Bast). In addition, interest on TTD bank deposits is expected to be around Rs 13.1 crore, and revenue from the sale of “Prasadam” is expected to hit Rs 6 billion.
