786 Pakistan leaves India via Attari border after Pahalgam attack

New Delhi: As many as 786 Pakistani nationals left India through the Atari-Waga border point within six days, a senior official said.

At the same time, a total of 1,376 Indians returned from Pakistan to the Atari-Waga border, the official told the official.

On April 24, the government announced that Pakistani nationals should leave India by April 27, while nationals with medical visas must do so by April 29.

Those with diplomatic, formal and long-term visas were excluded from the notice of “leave India”. The deadline for Pakistan to hold any of the 12 categories of short-term visas ends on Sunday.

The restrictions on stay of Pakistani nationals occurred after the Pahargam terrorist attacks in Jamu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists were killed.

The government strongly advises Indian nationals to avoid traveling to Pakistan. It is also recommended that Indian nationals currently in Pakistan return to India as soon as possible.

“As there is no direct flight to Pakistan, it has left via Dubai or other routes. We expect that as state police and other central agencies are identifying Pakistani nationals living in various parts of the country, we expect more Pakistani nationals to leave the country.”

Large verification drives in all states are in close coordination with the CIA.

Another official who closely monitors the situation said strict action will be taken against Pakistani nationals and that their stay will be considered illegal if they continue to stay in India after April 29.
