8 Related to murder of Hindutva activist in Mangalore: Minister Parameshwara

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Saturday (May 3, 2025) that eight people were arrested for murdering Hindutva activists and would permanently form an anti-community task force.

The arrests have been identified as Abdul Safwan, Niyaz Ahmed, Mohammad Muzzammil, Khalandar Shafi, Adil Mehrooz Mohammad Rizwan, Ranjit and Nagaraj.

Speaking at a press conference with the Senior Police Conference, Parameshwara said the anti-community task force will be composed specifically for the Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts in an anti-Naxal force.

He added: “It will be led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP). It will be set to be permanently functional.”

Suhas Shetty is a famous noisy Sheeter and Hindutva activist who was murdered by an unidentified group within the scope of the Bajpe police station in Mangaluru City.

After the murders ended, VHP appealed to a band on Friday that the store was closed in Mangaluru city.

Parameshwara and Regional Chief Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao rushed to Mangaluru on Friday and had a high-level discussion with Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal and Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan to assess the law and order situation.

Ministers reviewed security arrangements and called for peace and ensured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for violence and destruction.
