According to a report from the news portal, the food delivery company hired nearly 1,500 employees a year ago because its vacancies are in a customer support role under the Zomato Associate Accelerator Program (ZAAP).
Employee compensation
The fired customer support employee received a month’s salary as compensation and was terminated without any notice period, citing sources for the development.
They also said the employees were fired based on poor performance and punctuality (among other matters).
The current customer support staff told News Portal: “Most of the employees employed by Zomato’s ZAAP program last year have been released for the past week or so without any clear explanation.”
They also mentioned that the layoffs have already occurred in Gururam and Hyderabad as concerns increase in existing employees in their existing jobs.
Zomato stock trading price is 0.84% higher ₹203.20 After Tuesday’s trade fair, the stock market closed, in comparison ₹201.50 closed in previous markets.
Reddit’s unemployment plight
Some social media users entered the Reddit platform to discuss shooting incidents. A social media user was allegedly fired by Zomato with 300 employees and shared his experience with netizens.
According to a post shared seven days ago, a user named Brave_role_6331 shared their experience with the R/Delhi community, and Zomato allegedly shared how Zomato fired its staff seven days ago without any warning or opportunity for improvement.
“I never thought I would write this, but we’re here. Today, I can only describe me as a ridiculous and unfair reason: On average, only 28 minutes late for the last three months. There’s no warning, no chance of improvement – despite excellent indicators, and good records on the floor and a good performance on the floor, it’s a cold end.”
Social media users accept the delayed ending, and also claim that Zomato sees its employees as “one-time” and has nothing to do with the day-to-day workflow.
