Jaishankar criticizes Taliban’s hypocritical western Kashmir

New Delhi: Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar attacked the West on Tuesday with his “hypocrisy” and “double rhetoric” and pointed out how Pakistan’s invasion of Jamu and Kashmir (1947-48) turned into a dispute at the United Nations. Here, the minister said in the ongoing dialogue: “We all talk about the basis of international domination… After World War II, is the culprit of the longest illegal existence and the occupation of one country’s territory? The minister said that “this virtue of the old world order” is therefore highly “exaggerated”.

EAM added: “We are talking about political intervention. Mr. Jaishankar also pointed to the Western hypocrisy of the Taliban in the Afghan Taliban. He questioned Western criticism of the Taliban and asked how the participation between the West and the Taliban reconciled it with the talks in Oslo (Norway) and Doha (Qatar) in previous years. He recalled that British generals once compared the Taliban to “the country boy with their own code of honor.” He pointed out that if the Taliban was considered terrible, then what the West was discussing with the militias in Doha and Oslo.

It can be remembered that the Pashtun tribe supported by the Pakistani army had launched a full-scale war against the then Jamu and Kashmir states and Kashmir rulers, Maharaja Hari Singh, followed by J&K joining India. The Indian army then pushed back the tribes and Pakistani forces, however, they retained control over certain occupied territories known as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). It can also be noted that just earlier this month, Mr. Jaishankar asked Pok to return to India and called it “a part of the stolen Kashmir”, noting that once completed, the Kashmir problem will be “solved”.

Eam, who was interacting at Chatham House in London less than two weeks ago, said in response to a question from the audience: “We (the Government of India) did a good job in solving most of the issues (Kashmir issue, Article 370 is a (step). Eam said: “What we are waiting for is the stolen part of Kashmir, which is illegally occupied by Pakistan. These comments are considered to be a reaffirmation of the Modi government’s position that the only issue that India and Pakistan are waiting for on Kashmir is the POK return to India.
