From Kolatam to Garadi, the Godavari area is full of joy

Kakinada: The Godavari area is buzzing, with many Jatharas and Theerthams planning this summer. In the reverence of the country goddess and Theerthams, traditional arts such as “Kolatam,” “Garadi” (Juggling Play), puppet performances, bands and Theen Mar band are getting much-needed uplifts. This also brought livelihoods to the artists.

Tagged with the group, hundreds of small traders are going from village to village stock. A turnover of Rs Crore is expected.

According to traders, summer revenue is crucial as business declines during the monsoon season. Some say Ugadi’s income afterwards is enough to last for a year.

These annual celebrations are celebrated both day and night.

A month to 15 days ago, the “Garaga Nruthyalu” (Garaga Dances) of the country goddess Theertham was celebrated to receive the blessings of the goddess. During these days relatives from afar arrive at the village and pray to the goddess.

“Many traders come to these occasions to sell their products, which is my goal to provide them with food,” said Boddu Prabhakara Rao, of Rajanagaram Mandal Kanavaram Village, East Godavari District.

Starting this Tuesday (April 15), the goddess Dorlamma Theertham is celebrated for five days. Over the past 20 years, Prabhakara Rao has provided clothes and food among nearly 150 businessmen.

He said that due to the blessing of Goddess Dorama, he was able to provide it.

Thousands of people from the surrounding villages were visiting the village and took away the darshan of Goddess Dorama.

On Ugadi Day, the famous Nuokalamma Festival held in Kandrakota, Jaggampeta Mandal will last for 15 days. On Monday, Poleramma-Venkamma-Mahankalamma-Pothuraju Theertham was held at UNDI in the West Godavari region.

Mutyalamma Theertham will be held in the village of Elakolanu in Rangampeta Mandal; the Somalamma Festival was recently celebrated in Chakradwarabandham in Rajanagaram Mandal.

The Country Goddess Festival will be held on April 16 in Rajanagaram Mandal in the Kakinada region, and such festivals will also be held in Penumalla, Kondukuduru (Ankamma Jathara) in Konaseema district.
