The three children drowned on Monday (14 April 2025) evening in Velliyangal Odai near the town of Kattumannarkovil in the Kudalor region.
Police said the deceased had been identified as 8-year-old Ubaithullah, Mohamed Hafil, 10-year-old Mohamed Hafil and 13-year-old Jahir Hussain Nagar of Kattumannarkovil.
On Monday night, the kids ventured into the deeper levels of Velliyangal Odai and drowned. Several other children bathing in the stream tried to rescue them and seek help.
Locals launched a search and alerted fire and rescue service personnel who retrieved the body and sent it to Kattumannarkovil General Hospital for autopsy.
The case has been registered.
