Lata Mangeshkar felt “embarrassed” at Ar Rahman’s studio while recording Shah Rukh Khan’s hit song Jiya Jale, Gulzar reveals why

Gulzar explained how Lata Mangeshkar recorded the song in an interview with O2india, but she was a little upset when she didn’t have a familiar face behind the glass. After a while, she asked, “I can’t see anyone in front of me; who am I singing for?”

People who are familiar with one way of doing things often miss it. Even legends feel this way. Gulzar recently told a story from 1998 when DIL SE was in production and its popular song Jiya Jale came to life. This legendary song saw the late Lata Mangeshkar collaborate with AR Rahman for the first time. But even if the song continues to be a super passion, it’s not that easy to make. Gulzar explained the situation and explained: “This is her first time working with Rahman. [In his studio,] The singer couldn’t see it from where he recorded it. Usually, we stand in front of the singer (in another room near the studio) and give instructions through gestures. At that time, unlike now, Rahman didn’t understand Hindi either. ”

Gulzar explained how Lata Mangeshkar recorded the song in an interview with O2india, but she was a little upset when she didn’t have a familiar face behind the glass. After a while, she asked, “I can’t see anyone in front of me; who am I singing for? I feel very embarrassed because I absolutely have no contact with anyone (with anyone). You can’t sing alone or even recite a poem.”

He further added: “I explained this to Rahman and told him that I was sitting on the stool in front of the door, which was visible to both of them. So she managed to see me and that’s how she finished recording the song.”

Jiya Jale continues to be super hits with the pleasant voice of Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary music of Ar Rahman and the complex words of Gulzar.
