Match Fixed Panic in IPL 2025? BCCI sends a harsh warning to the team, players oppose “suspicious” Hyderabad businessman

During the 2013 IPL season, allegations of live fixation and gambling surfaced, leading to the arrest of Gurunath Meiyappan, a key figure in the Chennai Super Kings group, on the day of the final match.

With the midway mark of the 2025 Premier League (IPL), the Indian Cricket Control Board (BCCI) has issued a strong warning about potential illegal activities in the match. BCCI recently reminded all IPL stakeholders of the Hyderabad businessman who was suspected of attempting to engage in illegal acts.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, BCCI has advised franchisees, stakeholders, cricketers, coaches and support staff to take care of any approaches to businessmen in question. The Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) raises concerns about individual connections with gamblers.

According to the report, “Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) appears to believe that a businessman in Hyderabad has a clear connection with bettors, gamblers and past and demonstrates a record of participation in corruption activities, is trying to be friends with participants.”

“One method he used reportedly involved contacting families of franchisees, players, coaches, support staff and even commentators. He was said to have been proposing to bring them to jewelry stores and high-end hotels that play fans. He may also try to contact relatives through social media platforms, which, according to reports, may try to connect with relatives through social media platforms.”

In the current cash-rich league, all teams have played at least five games, and the scoring table is very unexpected. The Gujarat Giants finished the top spot with four wins and two losses, while the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings struggled with just two wins.

In its seventeen years of history, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has changed T20 cricket to become the world’s richest T20 league and a platform to discover hidden talents. However, the league cannot avoid controversy, as it faces major setbacks with the spotted scandal that rocked the world of cricket a decade ago.

During the 2013 IPL season, allegations of live fixation and gambling surfaced, leading to the arrest of Gurunath Meiyappan on the day of the final between the Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians. Meiyappan, a key figure in the Chennai Super Kings Group, was accused of participating in the on-site fixation, while Raj Kundra, owner of Rajasthan Royals, faces similar charges.

In response to these allegations, India’s Supreme Court has formed a three-member committee led by former Chief Justice RM Lodha to investigate the matter. Justice Lodda Committee found evidence of competition and gambling, resulting in a two-year ban on Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals of the IPL in 2016 and 2017. Additionally, the main officers of both teams, including Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra, are from all Bcci Cricki Margets.
