They said the ATM, provided by a private bank, has been installed in the air-conditioned chair coach for the daily express service and will be offered to passengers soon.
“ATM has been installed on Panchavati Express on Panchavati Express,” Swapnil Nila, chief public relations officer, said on Tuesday.
According to rail officials, the ATM has been placed in a compartment on the coach’s back end, the space used earlier as a makeshift food pantry. They said a blind door has been provided to ensure safety and accessibility when the train is running.
The official said the necessary coaching revisions were conducted at the Manmad Railway workshop.
Panchavati Express operates daily between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai and Manmad Junction in the neighboring Nashik district, completing its one-way trip in about 4.35 hours.
This is due to the convenient timing of the city trip, which is one of the popular trains on the route.
