Karnataka trucks stir after their needs are met

Bangalore:The three-day sensation of the Federation of Truck Owners and Agents Associations of Karnataka ended after Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy agreed to meet their requests and expressed happiness to the minister’s response.
Due to the sensation of truck drivers, the state has been estimated to lose about Rs 80 billion, and about 75% of truck drivers are said to support the fuel given by the Karnataka truck owners and agent associations to meet their needs.
After meeting with Bangalore’s transport minister Ramalinga Reddy, Gr Shanmugappa told reporters that among the five requests made by the state government, including the removal of the RTO checkpoints in the border area, they said. Shanmugappa said the RTO border area verification stations have been removed in 14 states in the country and questioned: “Why do we need RTO checkpoints in the border area?”
The border area RTO checkpoint has been in Karnataka for about 25 years and it is all about to go. The Minister assured that after four states conducted the study, the border area checkpoints were studied and decided to remove the border area RTO checkpoints within two months.
He said a high fee of Rs 15,000 was charged from the owner when obtaining the fitness certificate (FC) for the truck, and the Federation of Truck Owners and Agents Associations requested a reduction in FC fees. To cope with demand, the minister kept the demand on “shelf.” Shanmugappa said: “We are satisfied with the minister’s response.”
Diesel prices have risen, and the Federation of Truck Owners and Agents Associations of Karnataka State fixed fees for trucks such as car/car/taxis and other commercial vehicles. The fixed rates of trucks in Karnataka and Ramalinga Reddy over the past 25 years are pending, and the truck rate is guaranteed to be fixed at one ton/km. Ramalinga Reddy guarantees that the truck rate will be announced within one month.
However, Shanmugappa said that if the state government does not meet their requirements during the prescribed period, the truck will block the national highway to register its protests to meet its requirements.
