Curres demands the abolition of anti-cattle slaughter law

The Karnataka Qureshi Conference asked the state government to address various issues in the Qureshi community. They submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during their visit to Bidar district on Wednesday.
Abdul Nabi Qureshi, president of the state unit, said the Qureshi community has a population of 1.6 million in the state and makes a living through the meat trade.
He said the business has been completely stagnant since the last government closed its slaughterhouses and implemented new laws.
He said a congressionally-led administration should modernize and restart the state’s closed slaughterhouses. He also urged the establishment of a state meat commission.

He said strict legal proceedings should be taken against NGOs that seize vehicles transporting cattle in the name of cattle protection.
