Attention to the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) said that of 327 visa revocation cases so far, 50% of the cases collected by international students so far are Indians, and Congress asked Foreign Affairs Secretary S. Jaishankar on Friday (April 18, 2025) whether the issue would be resolved with his U.S. rival Marco Rioio.
Jairam Ramesh, head of Congressional communications, shared a statement made by Aila on the X handle. “To date, 50% of the 327 visa revocation cases collected by international students by the organization are Indian. The reasons for the revocation are random and unclear. There is increasing fear and fear. Will the foreign minister pay attention and attract the attention of his fellow Americans?” Mr. Ramesh asked, marking the union minister.

“The State Department (DOS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are actively targeting international students, including those without a history of protest, visa revocation, termination of their status and removal,” Aila said on Thursday.

The statement said AILA collected 327 reports on visa revocation and termination of the student and exchange visitor information system (SEVIS) for attorneys, students and university employees. It added: “In these reports, 50% of them are from India, followed by 14% of China. Other important countries represented in this data include South Korea, Nepal and Bangladesh.”
