Assam CM Sarma says

Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday that the national health mission is being held at the grassroots organization “Saas Bahu Sammelans” (daughter women and mother-in-law), where a discussion on family planning and improving female reproductive health in a healthy society.

“Break social taboos and have a conversation at a time. @NHM_ASSAM is organizing Saas Bahu Sammelans at the grassroots level to conduct discussions on family planning, improving female reproductive health, etc. This helps build a stronger bond between mother-in-law and mother-in-law and women and healthy society.”

Assam Police A new action was started last year for child marriage. During the crackdown, 416 arrests were conducted and 335 cases were registered.

In October 2023, Assam police arrested more than 1,000 people in a large-scale crackdown on child marriage across the state. According to the state government, 3,098 people were arrested under the Child Marriage Act of 2006. The state has registered 4,363 child marriage cases.

Sarma had earlier said that by 2026, Assam would completely eliminate child marriage.
The Assam government has also launched the “mission to prevent child marriage” in the national budget, allocating Rs 20 lakh.
