To alleviate a small portion of relief from ASHAS (Accredited Social Health Activist), the government has frozen an order to determine retirement age at 62.
Ashas has been protesting the detailed guidelines for 2022, related to their appointments, training, remuneration and other conditions of service, and they will retire at 62 without any benefit.
Since February 10, part of Ashas, ​​led by the Kerala ASHA Health Workers Association (KAHWA), has been protesting outside the Secretariat, demanding that they take hikes on their compensation and retirement benefits. Ashs said the order to freeze the earlier order was their excited victory.
The Health Minister has repeatedly stated that the order to determine the retirement age has been frozen. But, it’s until now. This is the meeting with the Minister on March 19 by Asshas and his representatives. However, Ashas’ demand for retirement benefits or hiking in remuneration has not developed.
Although their initial demand was to hike the remuneration to Rs 21,000, Kahwa said they were willing to declare for the temporary Rs 3,000 name, and the government-suggested committee may strike other issues.
