In March, Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, who was recommended to be appointed the 52nd Chief Justice of India, traveled to Manipur with the Supreme Court judges team to interact with victims of the long-term racial conflict.
The judge spent several hours in the medical camp, distributing relief materials and launching a legal aid camp organized by the National Legal Service, but Judge Gawai recalled a special situation that touched his heart. A woman stood up to greet the judge and greeted the judge with the message “Welcome to your home”. Judge Gawai said the judge was often ridiculed by the public and critics living in the ivory tower and went to Manipur as a messenger of peace and goodwill. A few popular sentences mark the “great learning” moment.

Born in a Maharasht County family immersed in social activism, Judge Gawai draws inspiration from the doctrines of BR Ambedkar and the tenets of the constitution. His father, Ramkrishna Suryabhan’Dadasaheb’Gavai, served as a MP, former governor of Kerala and Bihar, was an outstanding leader of the Ambedkar movement.
The senior judge will be just a second Dalit, saying one of the greatest debates during the constitutional framework was whether there is a power imbalance between the center and the states. One faction believes that the center is gaining more power, while another feels that power is more state-oriented. Judge Gawai said Dr Ambedka answered the two factions by pointing out a message of solidarity in the Constitution.
Justice Gawai’s proposal as the next CJI was to be more than six months in office until his retirement on November 23, when the judiciary faced criticism for “over-disclosure” and allegations of corruption and lack of transparency.
The court was accused of excessive judicial liability, which followed the schedule by issuing a mandala to the president while clearing the bills in the case of the governor of Tamil Nadu. The official residence of the High Court Judge Yashwant Varma, the alleged dispute over the semi-burning currency was awaiting a report by the Commission of Inquiry.

Critics point to the lack of FIR for judges. In recent days, the Supreme Court has been bothered by gender discrimination observations on the bench of the Allahabad High Court in cases involving sexual violence against women. While all of this is a question for the current Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, they are likely to be the inheritance of the traditional judge Gavai who served as Supreme Court on May 14.
Judge Gawai conducted the court with a firm hand. When the lawyer is so outstanding under the order of the public court, he cannot speak. “You then pass the order” usually has the expected effect in this case.
Important judgment
For the past five years, Judge Gawai was part of several major judgments. These include upholding the abolition of Article 370 of the Constitution and strikes on electoral bond plans.
Justice Gawai, while confirming the right of the state to classify the regular caste, pointed out that it was time to call the regular caste and scheduled tribes exempted from the “cream layer” from the reservation of benefits.
The latest hearing of the Supreme Court saw the judge directing the process of a carefully watched case with steady hands, making decisions without delay while refusing to postpone the order to another day.
Some of these decisions were tough. This includes a blow to the “bulldozer culture”. The judge drew the “frightening sight” of “bulldozer demolition” with the era that might be the right one.

Similarly, on a Saturday night in July 2023, the judge heard the court directly from the cultural plan to protect activists – Teesta Setalvad from immediate surrender.
Earlier this week, Justice Gawai rescued Telangana’s Kancha Gachibowli forest from infrastructure projects, observing that senior officials are not a good company for Wild Deer.
Justice Gawai led the lead on the green bench, retaining the dictionary meaning of the word “forest”, thus stagnating the Forest Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (Conservation) Act (
Judge Gavai is expected to make a major judgment on the Speaker’s power, while also deciding to request the petition to disqualify legislators under the anti-specific law (arrangement 10 of the Constitution). The judge said in court that the time limit is needed for speakers who are often accused of being partisans of political parties.
