Historical representative of women among civil servants: Trade Union Minister Jitendra Singh

Secretary of State (Independence Allegations) Jitendra Singh interacted with officials from the Indian Administrative Services Agency (IAS) 2023 on Sunday (20 April 2025). He praised the largest female representative in the service’s history, with 74 women officials accounting for 41% of the batch.

“Interaction is part of the ongoing Assistant Secretary Program, from April 1 to May 30, 2025, IAS officials have been attached to 46 central ministries for eight weeks, giving them early access to policy-making and the operation of the central government,” a news statement said.

Mr Singh attributed the landmark development to the visionary leader of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said that during his tenure as prime minister, he gained unprecedented momentum with the initiative of women. “The Prime Minister has been a champion of women’s empowerment. This record representative demonstrates his firm support for inclusive and progressive governance,” the minister said.

Mr Singh said Mr Modi’s Creative Assistant Secretary program was launched in 2015. “The program revives confidence among officials. Many officials have performed well during the pandemic when asked by crisis management at the regional level,” he said.

Mr Singh emphasized the academic and professional diversity of the batch and mentioned that 99 officers came from engineering backgrounds, as well as many from medical and other technical fields. Their average age is 22-26 years old.

The Minister urged officers to stay technically ahead and take advantage of the Igot Karmyogi platform, a digital learning ecosystem that continuously updates capacity building modules.
