Russia and Ukraine accused thousands of attacks in violation of a one-day Easter ceasefire announced by President Vladimir Putin, and the Kremlin said there was no order to stop pauses in front-line combat.

Washington said it would welcome the extension of the truce, with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reiterating Ukraine’s willingness to strike for 30 days in the war repeatedly reiterated.

But Putin sent thousands of Russian troops into Ukraine in February 2022 and ordered the cessation of all military activities on the front line on Saturday until Sunday Moscow time (2100 GMT) he issued no orders.

Russia’s Tas State News Agency listed “There are no other orders,” said Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin. When asked if the ceasefire could be extended.

While there were no air strike alerts in Ukraine on Sunday, shortly after midnight on Monday, the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning to the country’s eastern and southeastern regions warning missiles and drone strikes.

Zelenskiy said earlier on Monday that Ukrainian troops reported nearly 3,000 violations of Russia’s own ceasefire oath, adding that Kiev troops were instructed to reflect the actions of the Russian army.

“We will respond with silent silence, and our strike will be to prevent Russian strikes,” Zelenskiy said in a post on the Telegram messaging app.
