Health Minister says liver transplant surgery is soon in Kozhikode MCH

Health Minister Veena George said efforts will be made to provide liver transplants at the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Kozhikode.

Ms. George said in a press release on Monday (April 21, 2025) that the hospital is already providing a kidney transplant. The facilities for liver transplantation were arranged at the Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam. The Minister’s statement was to establish 14 operating theaters in the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) neighborhood for transplanting the heart, liver and kidneys. The version added that out of 190 beds in the intensive care unit, 20 were used for multi-organ transplants in brain-dead patients, 20 were used for kidney transplants, and 20 were used for treatment for people suffering from head injuries.
