Two days after the reported disappearance, Aneesh Vijayan, a deputy inspector of the Kotayam West Police Department, contacted his family on Tuesday and told them he was safe.
His family confirmed the update in social media posts, noting that Mr Vijayan talked to them over the phone. He is a native of Keezhvaypur of Pathanamthitta, who went missing last Friday and failed to return home after taking office.
The family filed a complaint of missing persons prompting an investigation led by station house officials at Kotayam West Police Department. During the investigation, police were able to track his movements to Pathanamthitta’s Adoor, but were unable to track his exact location until he contacted him.
