Music Canada celebrates 50th anniversary of the Gold and Platinum Certification Program in Junos

To mark the 50th anniversary of Canada’s Gold & Platinum Certification Program, we worked with Junos to create a truly unique ode to the album, with Canadians’ favorite songs for the past fifty years.
Walk with Juno nominated artists and their team Gold The carpet at the Canadian concert’s Juno Awards party in Vancouver will be welcomed by 12-foot-tall 24-foot walls, showing off 50 gold medals and platinum certified plaques, every year of the program’s history.
The Gold & Platinum Certification Program recognizes Canadian artists’ milestone sales and streaming achievements. For fifty years, the iconic plaque remains the most well-known symbol of commercial success in the music industry.
Given that Canadian music has released more than 30,000 certifications over the years, choosing 50 plaques is not an easy task. Our team scanned the archives and the latest certifications to select a Canadian artist with Junos connection for the program’s history.
Among 50 alternating gold and platinum patches, the final choice provides a unique snapshot of a variety of artists and music that Canadians love for fifty years.
“Every artist celebrated on this wall has won gold and platinum certifications as Canadian music listeners choose to buy their records, buy digital downloads and stream music,” said Patrick Rogers, CEO of Canadian Music. “As the sound of Canadian commercial music, we are honored to celebrate the milestones of our program in Junos – unlike any other event – when the Canadian industry gathers in the incredible talent that this country offers.”
In addition to highlighting the works of the great Canadian artist, the wall provides a look how Canadians listened to music. As the industry grows, the program has evolved with everything from physical singles, ringtones and DVDs to digital downloads, audio and video streams.
It is also important to note that selected plaques include certification issued for the specified year – many There is a higher level of certification in these songs and albums.
As the Canadian music industry celebrates the 2025 Juno Awards in Vancouver, we would like to thank the team at Carlas for providing us with the opportunity to articulate our plans. Be sure to check out our Gold and Platinum Walls at the Juno Awards Gala on March 28 and follow Music Canada on social media for more information.
