Trainer plane crashes and pilot is killed in Amreli area of Gujarat

A well-trained pilot was killed when a training aircraft belonging to a private aviation academy crashed and caught fire in a residential area in Amreli district in Gujarat on the afternoon of Tuesday (April 22, 2025).
The plane collapsed on a tree and then hit an open plot.
Amreli Police Department Sanjay Kharat said the plane crashed into a residential area in the Giriya Road area of Amreli town around 12:30 p.m. for unknown reasons, killing pilots of trainees on the spot.
The pilot is performing solo. He added that the plane had taken off from Amreli Airport.
Harrat said the plane caught fire and engulfed the flames after the plane crashed near the Shastri Nagar region.
“A training aircraft from the airport operated Aviation Academy took off from Amrelli Airport, the training aircraft from the airport operated by the airport crashed into a residential area. The trained pilot was killed in a solo crash, and the plane committed in the flames and no one was injured.
He said the Delhi-based Aviation Academy provides pilot training for Amreli Airport.
Local police have begun the process to raise accidental deaths and investigation cases to find out the exact cause of the crash, SP said.
Fire officer SC Gadhvi said teams of four local fire brigades arrived at Shastrinagar when they learned that the plane had crashed and caused a fire in the plane.
He said: “Even though the plane crashed into the residential area, no one else was injured because it first landed on the tree and then hit a clearing.
