Priya Dutt, sister of Sanjay Dutt

Priya shares her reservations about the biopic, saying it doesn’t exactly capture the complexity of her brother’s life. In particular, she believes the film overlooks the important role parents play in shaping Sanjay’s life.

The 2018 biopic Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor tells the story of Sanjay Dutt’s turbulent life, starting as a teenager and struggling with his romantic relationship and legal troubles. Although the film received different reviews, it had a huge box office success. Recently, Sanjay’s sister Priya Dutt shared her views on the film, with a personal opinion on the story.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film is fascinating in terms of scripts and performances, but Priya says she doesn’t like the film much. She shares her reservations about the biopic, which she says doesn’t exactly capture the complexity of her brother’s life. In particular, she believes the film overlooks the important role parents play in shaping Sanjay’s life. “I also think the movie is not just and fair, even in the movie or in the father,” she said in an interview with Vickey Lalwani.

When asked if she was considering sharing her concerns with director Rajkumar Hirani, Priya Dutt said: “I’m tempting…but I think they have a different concept. I don’t call him. I don’t call him. Their focus is just Sanju, of course I get-my life. It becomes a little comic.” Priya’s comments show that despite her reservations about the film’s portrayal of brothers and family, she understands the director’s vision and chooses not to intervene.

Additionally, Priya reflects on the biopic Sanju: “Maybe they have to blend too many characters together. It’s not what I expected. I think it’s more about entertainment…I like Ranbir Kapoor in it. He plays Sanju very well.” When she praises Ranbir’s portrayal, Priya feels that the film doesn’t have a real biopic, but focuses on entertainment value. “But yes, I don’t think it’s a biopic. It’s a movie, very interesting, just including some aspects of his life. The intensity is missing.”

Meanwhile, Sanju has an impressive cast that includes Paresh Rawal, Dia Mirza and Manisha Koirala, and Ranbir Kapoor excelled as Sanjay Dutt. Despite the box office success, Priya’s comments highlight the challenge of capturing a person’s nuances throughout his life on screen.
