J&K LG, CM, Mehbooba Mufti condemns Pahalgam terrorist attack

Check mu: Jamu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attacks at the Pahalgam tourist destination in the Anantnag area of southern Kashmir and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
At least 12 tourists were injured in the terrorist attack in Baisaran, the meadow can only be accessed by walking or in Pahalgam by Ponies.
“I strongly condemn the timid terrorist attacks on visitors to Pahalgam. I assure people that the people behind this mean attack will not be punished.”
He said he had spoken with the police chief and other security officials, and the military and police teams were rushed to the area to initiate a search operation.
He added: “Instructed the district government and health officials to provide immediate medical care for those admitted in Pahalgam. The injured visitors have been evacuated to GMC Anantnag. I pray for a quick recovery of all injured people.”
Jamu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack, saying it was abominable.
“I am abominable to the attack by tourists. The perpetrators of this attack were animals, inhumane and worthy of despising. There is no sufficient condemnation. I sympathize with the families of the deceased.”
Abdullah said he had spoken with his ministerial colleague Sakina Itoo, who had arrived at the hospital to monitor the injury arrangements.
“I will fly back to Srinagar immediately,” added the chief minister at Jamu.
He also said that in recent years, the attack has been “much bigger than anything we see”.
“The death toll is still being determined, so I don’t want to introduce these details. As the situation becomes clearer, they will be officially communicated. Needless to say, the attack is much bigger than anything we’ve seen with civilians in recent years,” he said.
Mehbooba Mufti, head of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said such attacks must be condemned.
In a post on X, she said: “I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on tourists in Pahargam, which sadly killed five people and injured several people.
The former chief minister said historically that Kashmir warmly welcomes visitors, bringing the rare event deeply to the attention and calling for a thorough investigation.
She added: “A thorough investigation is needed to get the perpetrators to justice and to check for potential security mistakes. It is crucial to ensure the safety of visitors and measures must be taken to prevent future attacks. Our idea is about the victims and their families.”
Jamu and the Kashmir State Congress Committee (JKPCC) strongly condemned the attack, describing it as the most unfortunate and shameful act.
“The rank and archives of JKPCC, led by President Tariq Hameed Karra, strongly condemn the armed attacks on tourists. It was shocking and painful to learn about the unconscious and mean radical attacks on ignorant innocent tourists.”
It added that such incidents are very pathetic and have no place in civilized society.
The statement said the incident gave a huge question mark in the high propositions of the Centre led by Bharatiya Jnata Party on the security situation in Jamu and Kashmir, adding that it must be determined and punished by example.
Sajad Lone, head of the People’s Congress, said the perpetrators of the attack were the worst enemies of the Kashmiris.
He said in a post on X: “In Pahalgam, we have strongly condemned the mean and cowardly attack. For decades, we have been identified as great masters. We have a history of hospitality. Some cowardly terrorists want to destroy it.”
The lonely people say the tourism industry here has suffered a lot of losses, and people involved in the industry have started to restart their lives after a long time.
“They started dreaming. This is ugly villain. There is no doubt. The purpose of these terrorist attacks is to disenfranchise us financially again. Those who do so are the worst enemies of the Kashmiris.
“They have polluted our hospitality history and smeared our glorious past. They are the curse of our present. They are the enemies of our young generation’s children. We must unite and convey the message that there is no tolerance for terror. Let us live in peace and economy. Please get rid of life.
