A special team of tax departments led by Idukki subcollector, which is exploring land on Idukki Peerumade Taluk Parunthumpara Hills, will complete the first phase of the investigation by May 5.

According to regional collector V. Vigneshwari, people who held the land in the No. 441 survey in Manjumala Village and Peerumade Taluk’s 543 survey were asked to submit documents related to the land. The income team will verify the land records and those with valid documents can own the land. “The income team will take action against those who hold the land in these survey numbers without valid documents,” the collector said.

Notify 1,000 people

According to tax bureau officials, the special team has issued notices to nearly 1,000 people in the two survey areas to release its documents within 15 days.

On March 6, the Idukki Regional Government imposed Article 163 on the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on the five survey areas of Peerumade Taluk to prevent illegal construction and encroachment. Ms. Vigneshwari issued a ban order that prevented people from assembling in the No. 441 investigation in Manjumala Village, 534 of Peeruma Village in 534, and 724, 813 and 896 of Wagamon Village in midnight from March 6 to May 2.

A special investigation team (SIT) led by K. Sethuraman, director of the Police Training Academy, discovered large-scale land encroachment and illegal construction on government land in Parunthumpara Hills.
