In 2022, Read was accused of strikes on her boyfriend, Boston policeman John O’Keefe, her SUV, and left him dead in the snow outside a family gathering in Canton, Massachusetts. Her lawyer suggested that O’Keeffe was actually killed by someone else, which could be another law enforcement officer at a family gathering where his body was found.
