NGT undrafts authorities’ administration at Bandhwari landfill in Gurugram

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has removed municipal companies from Gurugram and Faridabad to “seriously insufficient” in the management of Bandevari landfills in Gurugram.

NGT also directed the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to submit a new affidavit, revealing details of the tax collection and the details of environmental compensation received from the municipalities of Gurugram and Faridabad within six weeks.

“Gurugram and Faridabad municipal companies have no consistent plans to set up waste disposal facilities. Gurugram’s municipal companies have a plan to build a garbage-to-energy plant that has now been replaced by Torrefied Carcoal with Torrefied Charcoal, which will be commissioned in 2027,” the website said on Tuesday on Tuesday’s order 15, a family’s tier 15 order.

NGT Chairman Prakash Shrivastava, Judicial Member Sudhir Agarwal and Professional Member A. Senthil Vel’s Chairman’s main bench issued an order in matters related to the mishandling of waste in the Bandhwari landfill.

The Green Court also noted that over time, the amount of waste in landfills has increased.

“In the affidavit dated 13.12.2024, the amount of balance disclosed by gurugram to be disposed of is Rs 88.4 lakh. Mountain Rs 8.44 crore. Increase,” the order said.
