AP accelerates India’s plan for the first quantum computing village in Amaravati

Vijayawada:Taking an important step towards realizing the vision of building India’s first quantum computing village, the Andhra Pradesh government convened a high-level meeting in the National Secretariat on Tuesday, under the auspices of the Real-Time Governance Association (RTGS).
The state government has announced the 50-acre facility in Amaravati is seen as a pioneering ecosystem for quantum computing research and collaboration. The latest conference focused on infrastructure planning, ecosystem development and technical consistency for prestigious projects.
Representatives from IBM, TCS and L&T participated in the detailed deliberation. Key highlights include the design of landmarks built by L&T, a premium quantum system for housing provided by IBM, and a long-term expansion of scope.
RTGS Secretary Bhaskar Katamneni shared key details of the planned ecosystem and noted that the Quantum Computing Village will feature IBM’s conceptualized landmark landmark icons. The facility will serve as a collaboration platform where institutions and companies can access and share advanced quantum computing resources. Dedicated on-site data centers will also support high-performance computing requirements. IBM and TCS will jointly determine the infrastructure specifications, initially setting up settings to host both IBM quantum systems. Bhaskar stressed the global ambitions of the project, saying: “This quantum village will be a world-class facility – a window to the future of computers in India.”
Special Secretary Pradyumna PS added that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to accelerate progress and ensure the project is implemented quickly.
Patryk Gumann from IBM Quantum gave a comprehensive speech on IBM Quantum and discussed technology and infrastructure requirements with L&T and state officials to facilitate early deployment.
Notable attendees included Indrajit Mitra, Vice President and Head of Research at L&T Mindtree; Vijayan, Chief Architect of L&T; G. Ramakrishna, CFO, AP Cluster, L&T; CV Sridhar, Scholar, Head of Coins and Strategic Plan in India; and L. Venkata Subramaniam, IBM Quantum Head, India.
