Trump pulls security permits for Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton

U.S. President Donald Trump secured security approvals to his Democratic opponents Friday in the latest moves by former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others.

The Republican president also revoked security clearance from former President Joe Biden, who defeated Clinton in the 2016 presidential election and Harris in last year’s election.

“I’m sure the following individuals are no longer in the national interest,” Trump said in a memo late Friday.
While the revocation may not have an immediate impact, it is another sign of Washington’s growing political rift as Trump seeks revenge.

Hours after Trump arrived at his Betminster, New Jersey golf property, the memo was released over the weekend.

Trump also targeted former Republican representative Liz Cheney, a sharp Trump critic, former Biden White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan and Russian expert Fiona Hill, who served on the National Security Council during his first term. Washington’s national security lawyer Mark Zaid represents the whistleblower, and former Republican lawmaker Adam Kinzinger is a keen Trump critic and several others who have revoked security permits. He has revoked Biden’s security clearance and denied the former president’s entry into traditional U.S. intelligence.

Traditionally, former U.S. presidents have received intelligence briefings so they can advise on the current president on national security and foreign policy.

In 2021, Biden revoked Trump’s security permit, who was then former president.
