Pahalgam terrorist attack: Donald Trump calls for “full support” with Prime Minister Modi.

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to express condolences for the victims of the deadly terrorist attacks in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Militants opened fire on a group of tourists in the scenic Baisaran Valley for several hours, killing at least 26 people and injuring 20 people.

Trump strongly condemned the attack, calling it “deeply disturbing” and assured Modi of Washington’s full support in India’s fight against terrorism. Trump posted on “The Society of Truth” “The United States, the United States and India are strongly opposed to terrorism. We pray for the souls of the lost.”

In response, Modi thanked the U.S. president and reiterated India’s determination to bring attackers and their supporters to justice. Modi said in an article on X: “The people behind this outrageous behavior will be brought to justice… They will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our determination to fight terrorism is unshakable, and it will become stronger,” Modi said in an article on X.

Visitors were shot dead in spacious sunlight

The attack unfolded around 3 p.m. Tuesday, when armed terrorists landed from the hills of the Besalan Valley, a meadow known as “Mini Switzerland” for its alpine charm and began to favor tourists and locals indiscriminately. The area is famous for its peaceful beauty and has become a scene of horror and chaos.

Victims include men, women and children. The medical team quickly mobilized and the injuries were evacuated for emergency treatment. In a statement shared on X, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps called it “a timid and painful act of violence”.

Dew sadness and global solidarity

International and family reactions were swift in. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded to Trump’s message, who released: “The United States is with India.” The State Department’s Southern and Central Asian Affairs Bureau added: “Nothing can prove this outrageous behavior, killing tourists and civilians…We call on the perpetrators to be held accountable.” Trump’s deputy, who is currently visiting India for four days, also expressed sympathy. He wrote: “Usha and I express our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India…our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this terrorist attack.”

Modi briefing, Shah chair safety review

Following the attack, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level security meeting in Srinagar on Tuesday night. Senior officials including Jamu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha and CM Omar Abdullah attended the meeting. Shah also briefed Prime Minister Modi’s security situation.

The Indian Army, Jamu and Kashmir police immediately launched a joint search operation in the Baisaran area of the Anatnag area. Security forces are combing through the area to track attackers while monitoring activities in nearby valleys.

Locals light candles, condemn violence

The attack sparked spontaneous protests and mourned in Kashmir. Candle parades are held in Sopore, Ganderbal, Handwara and Bandipora. Residents gather to commemorate lost lives and demand justice. According to Chinar Corps, the march reflects a reflection of “pain caused by local emotions.”

Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal shared Trump’s call for X:

“President Donald Trump @realdonaldtrump @potus called @narendramodi and expressed his deepest condolences for the loss of innocent lives… President Trump strongly condemned the terrorist attack and expressed his full support to India in order to make the perpetrators of this outrageous attack resort to lawsuits.”

Tuesday’s attack was one of Kashmir’s deadliest in recent years and amid a fragile security climate in the region. Despite the decline in violence in some areas, civilians, especially tourists, are targeting disturbing escalations. It also shocked the areas that still recovered from past rebellions and political unrest.

With India’s mourning, its security agencies remain on high alert. Modi’s message is clear: no tolerance, justice will be quick.
