Pahalgam terrorist attack: Congress seeks party-wide meeting to discuss responses to Kashmir terrorists

Opposition leaders of Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the terrorist attacks on tourists from Jamu and Kashmir Pahalgam and urged the centre to convene a full-party meeting to develop collective determination to combat terrorism.

The President of Congress called the attack a direct attack on national unity and integrity. A meeting of the Congress Working Committee will be convened on April 24 at the AICC office in New Delhi to discuss the issue.

The head of the AICC said in Bangalore on April 23: “The Indian government should convene a full-party meeting as soon as possible to bring us together and all parties stand with the government.”

Mr. Harger asked the centre to take quick action to pursue terrorists who killed innocent people who were storming J&K, saying: “This is not the time for collective politics. It is a moment of collective determination to ensure justice for family members who have lost loved ones and to strictly act against terrorist offenders.”

Mr. Haji, who spoke with Jamu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leaders said in J&K that Mr. Abdullah told him that “tourism is the main source of income for the country, especially in Kashmir”.

Kharge quoted CM as saying: “This kind of terrorist attack will cause the national economy to collapse”. Mr. Abdullah told me “we are done.”

Mr. Harge noted that Pakistan’s terrorists claim to be responsible for the killing of innocent people, saying: “We are all one at the moment. We must fight collectively to save the unity and integrity of the county. We must respond appropriately to the terrorists. Therefore, we will absolutely work with the Indian government.”

With the Amarnath Yatra about to begin, Mr Kharge urged the centre to tighten security in the area to ensure a smooth and peaceful pilgrimage. “The central government should take all precautions to ensure the protection and safety of pilgrims,” ​​he said.

KPCC head and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also attended the press conference.
