From Dark to Light: Naxl Village in Chhattisgarh gets electricity for the first time

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said Tomenar’s electrification marked the beginning of an era of governance and growth in remote areas of Bastar.
“All 53 families in the village are an extension of Bechapal Village Panchayat in the Bhairamgarh development zone, which was the first electrified after 77 years of independence of Chief Minister Manjra-Tola Elective Proiendentions,” the government statement said.
It added that this outstanding achievement meant the end of Maoist terror and the dawn of development, peace and prosperity in the region.
Timenar residents Mashram, Pandru Kunjam, Mangli and Pramila expressed their joy, saying they never thought they would see the light of electricity, but hope replaced despair.
Residents say the arrival of electricity eliminates the atmosphere of fear and insecurity, which is an important step in improving its quality of life. “Our village has electricity for the first time. We no longer worry about the darkness of the night, nor the threat of wildlife, snakes and scorpions. Our children can learn easily now, and we finally feel we are heading towards a path to development.” According to the release, the village is also strengthening infrastructure such as roads, health care and educational facilities.
Sai Chief Minister Sai said his government is committed to encouraging development in every “Manjra-Tola” (small village) and accelerated Maoist-affected areas.
“In the shadow of Maoist terror, the light of development shines. This transformation is a real victory. The electrical in Tiananal shows the beginning of the era of governance and growth in the remote areas of Bastall. This region is now moving towards prosperity and progress, freeing from fear of Maoist violence.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the Narendra Modi government is moving forward with a ruthless attitude towards the Nassalts and adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward Maoists who have not surrendered despite the facilities provided, from surrender to inclusiveness.
He announced that the country will exclude Naxal by March 31, 2026.
Up to 113 Naxals have been shot and killed in solitary encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year. 97 of them were eliminated from Bastar divisions in seven regions, including Bijapur.
