BJP’s plan in Telangana

tHe ran for the local agency of the Hyderabad Local Legislative Council (MLC) poll, which recently concluded a glimpse of how Telangana’s political landscape changed in the coming years.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to become a strong contender. The KMT has made candidates for the all-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), despite the massive accumulation of it.
The BJP has tested its Hindu strategy of generating dividends across India. Senior leaders openly appeal for religious sentiment. The party urged GHMC, MLA and MLC, which belong to the Hindu community, to oppose Aimim, referring to the latter as the “public party”. It tied the degree of posters and banners in the residence of Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samisi (BRS), urging them to switch sides.
Coal Mine Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy was known as a mild voice and surprised many with a sharp public tone during the campaign. His speech shows how much the party shapes its campaign narrative. Home Secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar, formerly head of the BJP’s Telangana and is known for his fiery political brand, has called it “selfless” by targeting it and calling it Aimim and Congress’ political alliance “selfless”. Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender had gritted his teeth earlier on left politics and later on BRS, succumbing to the BJP line more actively than ever.
Political parties, including the ruling Congress, see it as a decisive shift in the BJP strategy, not only for elections, but also for upcoming elections in Telangana, such as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, to be held at the end of this year. They believe that even if this helps voters inspire people’s fanaticism, the smallest opportunity will not be missed.
The senior BJP leaders agreed that their goal was clear – using the MLC election as a phased reason to prepare cadres and the public for participation in the GHMC elections and shape the public’s psychology. The purpose, they said, is to consolidate the Indian vote on caste and class boundaries. The plan is to remain stronger and stronger as the next rally poll in 2028.
In previous GHMC elections, the BJP adopted a tougher tone towards Aimim. The then BJP Governor Mr Bandi Sanjay launched a bubble attack on Aimim, saying Aimim’s headquarters would be demolished if the party dared to touch former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao’s memorial Ghat on the coast of Tank Pund. This is a remark to target lawmaker Akbaruddin Owaisi, that Rao’s grave and former chief minister NT Rama Rao should be razed first on Hussain Sagar Lake Banks. The BJP gained benefits from this strategy; several people, including little-known people, were elected.
Although the party lost the 2025 MLC election as expected, it successfully caused a sensation around its campaign style and showed what the main narrative will be in the coming months. It also manages to control the words.
Two of the BJP’s bags of two of the three MLC constituencies (teachers and graduates from the North Tlangana region) suggest that the victory of eight MP seats in last year’s parliamentary elections did not flash in the pot.
The party believes it now has a real opportunity to become a powerful force in the Telangana political landscape. The BJP is a partner in the government of the National Democratic Union of Neighboring Andhra Pradesh, and can also help it increase its footprint in Telangana.
If rumors can be believed, the next BJP governor may be an eagle rather than a speaking politician. The party seems to be convinced that a combative, unquestionably hard face will be more suitable to take advantage of Telangana’s new political opportunities, especially as the state’s political landscape is bleeding and experiencing losses as the BRS is weakening.
In the MLC poll of Hyderabad local agency, the BJP may not have won the victory, but it has sowed a narrative and sent a strong message to its opponents, as well as rankings and archives of its ready battles, and armed by Hindutva.
