Kazakhstan assists Afghanistan in harnessing its mineral resources and realizing its potential

Kazakhstan has decided to expand its economic ties with Afghanistan and agreed to establish a technical committee to study Afghan mineral deposits at a recent meeting between Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zumangalin and Afghan Mining and Afghan Mining Minister and oil company Hidayatullah Badri.The Prime Minister reported on April 23 that Zhumangarin thanked the Afghan side for their support, who provided research in organizing the field work of Kazakh geologists in Afghanistan.
Kazakhstan will send another team of experts to study potential deposits in other Afghan provinces by the end of May. Afghanistan also expressed its preparation to provide information on confirmed natural resource reserves as required and provide Kazakh mining companies with the request.
On the same day, Zhumangarin met with Ahmad Jan Bilal, the principal director of the state-owned company, to discuss the possibility of expanding cooperation between Kazakh enterprises and Afghan state-owned companies.

Zhumangarin also participated in the opening of the Kazakh-Afghan Business Forum, which is attended by 50 Kazakh companies, including traditional vegetable oils, pasta, rice, agricultural drones and batteries, including traditional commodities.


“Afghanistan can become a significant logistics hub between Central and South Asia, and Kazakhstan – a reliable supplier of food, technology, engineering, chemical and IT products. We set an ambitious but achieve goal – to increase the volume of trade to $3 billion in the short term. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to build sustainable supply channels, expand the range of mutual trade, and create favorable conditions for investment and entrepreneurial activity,” he said. According to preliminary results on the first day of the Business Forum, nearly $140 million worth of business documents were signed.
