Congress calls on special parliament to resolve Pahalgam attack

New Delhi: The National Assembly of India calls for a special parliamentary meeting to resolve the April 22 terrorist attacks in Jamu and Pahargam in Kashmir, which claimed 26 innocent lives.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge urged the government to convene a special meeting of the two houses of parliament in response to the attack.

In his letter, Karger said the proposed meeting would be a platform for expressing a joint position on the attack and would demonstrate collective determination to resolve the situation.

The president of Congress also pointed out that opposition beliefs about solidarity and solidarity are a demand for the hour.

“At present, when unity and solidarity are essential, the opposition believes that it is important to convene a special session of the two parliaments at the earliest. This will be a strong testament to our collective determination and will respond to the brutal terrorist attacks of Pahargam on innocent citizens in Pahargam, which is April 22, 2025. This demand comes amid anger and condolences following the April 22 terrorist attack, with increasing political concerns and responses to terrorism.

Earlier on Monday, Jamu and Kashmir’s Legislative Assembly held a special meeting to condemn the terrorist attacks in Pahargam on April 22.
During the meeting, a resolution was adopted to express strong opposition to the attack and to show unity to the victims and their families.

Chamu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary made a resolution to condemn the terrorist attacks in Pahargam at the beginning of the meeting, after which Speaker Abdul Rahim would rather open.

The resolution endorses diplomatic measures announced by the Cabinet Security Conference Committee in the Cabinet Government.

The resolution was adopted without any divisions and the meeting was subsequently adjourned by the sine.

Meanwhile, JK Chief Minister Omar Abdullah further confirmed that in the name of 26 people who died in the terrorist attack, he did not demand the demands of Jamu and Kashmir, noting that his politics was not “that cheap”.
However, he said he still needs the national status of the region, but at this moment, the country still mourns the losses of 26 people.

Since the 2019 Pulwama strike, Pahalgam attacks have been one of the deadliest attacks in the valley, with 40 CRPF Jawans killed. India has taken strong measures against Pakistan in support of cross-border terrorism following the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
