TN deletes “colonies” from official records, public list: Stalin

Chief Minister MK Stalin announced at the conference on Tuesday that the term “colonial” will be removed from official records and public overviews as it already symbolizes oppression and assumes an untouchable meaning.
Stalin said: “The term ‘colonial’ has been used to derogate the original inhabitants of the land. Steps will be taken to remove the term from government documents and public remarks, whether it has symbolized oppression and indicated that it is inconstrued.”
He further said that the committee led by retired High Court judges will be composed of questions that have been raised since the Supreme Court’s verdict on the 2019 Pre-determined Caste Promotion (SCS) and Pre-determined Tribes (STS) (STS).
The committee will study the impact of the judgment, possible impact, and make recommendations to find legal solutions. “Based on its recommendations, a good solution can be found from the impact of the judgment,” Stalin said.
He also recalled the representative of VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan seeks to retain promotions for SC/ST community officials.
“Independent Police Officer to Maintain Law and Order”
Mr. Stalin also announced that he would celebrate September 6 as a police officer every year. The purpose is to respect their service to people and their contribution to maintaining law and order.
In response to a debate on grants from police and fire and rescue services, Mr. Stalin mentioned the remarks made by opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami on various incidents.
“A quick action was taken in all these issues [Mr. Palaniswami] Mentioned. As for this government, let me make it clear that the police force has been independent, without any pressure, and has been maintaining law and order…” Stalin said.
He noted that quick action is being taken on all events and if there is a mistake, the state government is willing to correct itself, adding: “My message to those who criticize law and order for their political interests. This is not Manipur or Kashmir. It is Tamil Nadu!
The Chief Minister also called on the public to cooperate in maintaining law and order, as this is a “collective responsibility” and advised police officers not to bear the burden on the public and personal whimsical.
He said the DMK government was able to achieve great success in many ways, overcoming several challenges – coalition government, governor, financial austerity, etc. He added: “These are not Stalin’s achievements; they are the impact of the collective work of my cabinet and officials…”
