Odisha will invest Rs 9,200 CR to rebuild four major healthcare facilities

Bhubaneswar: To upgrade healthcare infrastructure, the Odisha government announced an investment of nearly Rs 920 billion to change four major healthcare facilities in the state. The decision came in a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in the presence of Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mukesh Mahaling. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said in a statement on Wednesday that Vimsar Medical College and hospital in Bora will be redeveloped with an investment of Rs 1,594 crore.
Once completed, the hospital’s bed capacity will increase from 1,485 to 2,861.
The MKCG medical school and hospital in Berhampur will also be rebuilt at Rs 10,141.3 crore, with the bed strength increasing from 1,583 to 2,033.

The number of beds in the Rourkela government hospital will rise from 437 to 763, with a reconstruction budget of Rs 627.16 crore.


Similarly, the state government has developed a comprehensive development plan for the Capital Hospital here with an investment of Rs 5,958 crore. Once executed, the hospital’s bed force will reach 2,582 from the existing 750, the CMO said. Among the four new projects, the Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing reconstruction work at the SCB Medical School and Hospital in CUTTACK and the Acharya Harihar Graduate Cancer Institute and the hospital.

The reconstruction of Cuttack SCB Medical College is also investing Rs 4.4449 crore. The goal of the project is to be completed by June 2026. Once the first phase of the work is completed, the number of beds in SCB Medical School will increase to 3,796.

Similarly, the Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute is underway for the first phase of reconstruction with an investment of Rs 8,958.9 billion. The plan includes increasing the number of beds to 1,127.
