Bangladesh High Court bails Chinmoy Krishna Das in incitement case | World News

Dhaka: The Bangladesh High Court on Wednesday released bail to spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das in an incitement case, according to Bangladesh’s Daily Star. The order was adopted by Justices Atoar Rahman and Justices MD Ali Reza.
Chinmoy Krishna Das, a spokesman for Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatani Jagran Jote, a former ISKCON leader, was arrested at Dhaka Airport on November 25 last year. He was accused of insulting the Bangladesh flag and faces charges of incitement to rebellion. He applied for bail in the High Court after the lower court in Chittagong rejected his request on January 2.
In February, the Bangladesh High Court asked the government to explain why the DA should not be released, as its lawyers confirmed. “The Bangladesh High Court requires the government to respond to the ruling within two weeks,” said Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee of DAS lawyer. At a hearing in Chittagong on January 2, Darth’s defense team argued that he respected his motherland very much, comparable to his mother’s reverence, rather than a traitor. Despite these arguments, the court denied the bail request.
“We mentioned to the court that the pastor respects the motherland like his mother, not a traitor,” said Batachaji. The court, led by the Metropolitan Judge MD Saifor, ruled that the debate between the two sides was unwilling to be released on bail.
The court in Chittagong, led by Metropolitan Judge MD Saiful Islam, refused bail after hearing a debate between the two sides. The hearing was held under intense safety. Metropolitan Attorney Advocate Mofizur Haque Bhuiyan indicted on behalf of the prosecutor.
The case has attracted widespread public attention, with many cases following the development of the Bangladesh High Court.
